This week's insanity

So not only am I hand-sewing down the binding on the gift quilt, I'm doing a tiny bit of hand-quilting on it. I think that makes me officially crazy.

how do you usually sew down the bindings? i came up with a cheater/machine way on the quilt i finished recently, but i have been putting off binding this last one because i was planning to do it "right" and slipstitch the back down...but i'd love to hear another option!!

Sewing the binding to the front and slipstitching it on the back is what I do. I don't use bias binding, though, just the straight kind. I've started cutting the ends of the strips at a 45-degree angle lately, which is a good bit more trouble to sew together but gives really nice results. I keep saying I'm going to start doing some of my bindings the "cheater" way, but I haven't so far.

It's kind of odd that I do this when I pretty much compulsively avoid any other kind of hand-sewing, but that's what I do. Don't ask me why.
