Unknown ninepatch variation

ninepatch variation, originally uploaded by Mellicious.

From the Sisters quilt show, 2001.

(I put this up on flickr yesterday and then forgot about it, but it's getting rave reviews from the commenters over there. I do like this pattern - wonder how it would look with a black background?)

People say they've seen this pattern before - anybody know the name of it offhand?

I don't know the name off hand, but I am 99% sure that it is in one of my 9-patch books... (drop me a reminder e-mail & I'll look for the title... Otherwise I will forget.)

Its called Jack's Chain. The hexagon flowers are an addition by the maker - not part of the pattern.

Thanks. I was thinking maybe I had seen it without the flowers before!

This is a gorgeous quilt. I was thinking of Jack's Chain too - it is one of the quilts I want to make. Thank you for reminding me why it is on my list!

The pattern was published in Amarican Patchwork and quilting under the name "Ali's quilt" - interesting to hear that it is called Jack's Chain. Here's a picture of the one I made: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mathea/211124808/in/set-72057594048153052/
